CLASSICS WALLABIES LUNCHEON CLASSICS WALLABIES LUNCHEON TO SUPPOR OF IRELAND and UNITED KINGDOM T he Australian Schools Rugby considered cancelling the UK tour this year because of our lack of fi nances. The ‘World Financial Crisis’ meant a smaller grant from ARU and the loss of some signifi cant sponsorship. The members of our Australian Schools Foundation - to a man - encouraged us to go ahead and promised to support raising the required funds. There was a luncheon held in Sydney on 5th June – the day before the Wallabies We were supported by many prominent people and organizations: • ARU – John O’Neill CEO of ARU took a table to support us and all members of the ARU Board were in attendance. • The Barbarians Club Committee all attended – and made a generous donation. Rod McCall, Peter Cosgrove, Peter McGrath, and Ron Graham Robbie Deans with P Kerry O’Keeffe Br Bob Wallace and Audrey Coupe Phil Waugh, Mike Catt, Dean Mumm and George Smith MC, John Lambie Arthur Buchan, Anne Eastes Barbarians match. We are so indebted to the energy, generosity and leadership of the Australian Schools Rugby foundation. Many of our Foundation are also members of the Classic Wallabies – Paul McLean, Bill Ross and Greg Cornelsen – and they became our steering committee and of course prominent members of our working committee.
